Your Disney World vacation comes with plenty of opportunities to wait in line. You’ll wait in line to get on transportation. Then, there’s more waiting in line to enter the theme parks. After that, there are lines for attractions. Finally, busy days mean lines for food and sometimes even the restrooms. As they say, “hurry up and wait!”
Unfortunately, some lines are unavoidable. However, sometimes there are ways to reduce your time spent waiting. Today, we want to talk about an unexpected place you can use the convenience of mobile ordering to avoid the long line at one popular EPCOT spot.

Mobile Ordering In Disney World
The MouseHouseNews.net team strongly advocates using mobile order whenever it is available. To recap, mobile ordering begins by selecting the participating location you want to order from. Once you’ve chosen a location, select an arrival window and start building your order. After you’ve added your selections to the cart, all that’s left is to review your order, pay, and hit the submit button. Then, just sit back and relax (or enjoy that next ride) until your arrival window opens.

As soon as your arrival window opens, a button for “I’m here, start my order” will appear. You can tap it at any time, including a few minutes before you actually arrive at the location. In fact, tapping the “I’m here” button when you’re on your way can save you a few additional minutes of waiting. Just be aware that sometimes the app will instruct you to move closer to the location before hitting the button. You don’t have to be right at the location, but you do need to be somewhat nearby.
When your order is ready, the app will send a push alert to your device. The alert will tell you where to go to pick up your food. Pick up details can vary by dining location. In most cases, all you need to do is show your confirmation to a Cast Member at the pickup spot. They will hand you your order, and you’ll be on your way.

Karamell-Küche: The Unexpected EPCOT Location Offering Mobile Ordering
Surprisingly, mobile ordering isn’t just limited to Quick Service dining or Table Service To Go. You can actually skip the line by mobile ordering your caramel-covered treats from Karamell-Küche in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion. This is extremely convenient, because the line for this shop’s delicacies often extends out of the doors.

At Karamell-Küche, mobile ordering works the same way it would at a Quick Service:
- First, pull up the location on your My Disney Experience app.
- Tap on the “Begin Order” icon.
- You will be prompted to select an arrival window, and then be shown the menu. One thing that I appreciate is that mobile ordering menus show pictures of each item.
- Spend as much time as you need to ooh and ahh over the delicious choices. Personally, I recommend the freshly made Werther’s® Original® Caramel Popcorn.
- Add your selections to your order/cart.
- Finish your order by reviewing your selections, entering payment, and hitting submit.

When your arrival window opens, you’ll tap “I’m here, start my order”. If you’re not already at Karamell-Küche, start heading there while you await the “Your Order Is Ready” notification. You can enter the shop through what is typically the exit door (closest to the registers). This will bypass the long line. There are signs overhead indicating Mobile Order Pickup. Once the Cast Member at the register is available, simply show them your order confirmation and they’ll hand you your treats. Easy!
Also, there’s a hidden benefit for Passholders wanting to purchase snacks at Karamell-Küche. Usually, you won’t get a Passholder discount at food locations other than table-service restaurants. However, Karamell-Küche’s ordering system is coded as a “merchandise” location. That means your 20% Passholder discount is valid here, even while mobile ordering!
It’s important to realize there are a couple of disadvantages to mobile ordering at Karamell-Küche. By skipping the line, you miss out on the heavenly scent that fills the shop. You also won’t be as tempted by the cases of glorious treats. Finally, you won’t see the batches of delicious caramel corn being crafted in front of your eyes.

The My Disney Experience App
Mobile ordering is just one of the ways in which the My Disney Experience app can streamline your Disney World vacation. The app provides users with a number of additional handy features. Some of the topics we’ve covered on MouseHouseNews.net to date include:
- using the Direct-to-Room service to skip the front desk and head straight to your room on check-in day (the app will even unlock your room door for you!)
- track bus arrival times to your resort
- check attraction wait times
- find PhotoPass locations and view your photo gallery
- making and modifying dining reservations
- mobile merchandise check out (at select locations)

Planning Your Disney Vacation
Disney World offers year-round magic for visitors seeking an escape from the ordinary. You can travel the world in a day at EPCOT. Go wild and embrace nature at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Why not experience old Hollywood glam and a Galaxy Far, Far Away at Hollywood Studios? Personally, no trip is complete without the excitement and adventure of Magic Kingdom. If you find yourself in EPCOT, the Germany Pavilion’s Karamell-Küche isn’t the only place you can find some delicious popcorn. I recommend heading to the Canada Pavilion too. The maple popcorn from the Canada Popcorn Cart is one of my “must gets” every trip! For more Disney tips, reviews, and news, stay tuned to MouseHouseNews.net.
