Quick! Decide right now what you want for dinner in 60+ days: chicken or steak? When it comes to planning a Disney World vacation, sometimes the timeline can feel stressful. Even if you’ve been researching restaurants ahead of time, the pressure of actually making Advance Dining Reservations can be overwhelming when you finally hit your 60-day window. What if you can’t get your first choice of restaurant? Perhaps the available times aren’t quite what you envisioned. Maybe you’ll change your mind or something “better” will pop up. Today, we’re going to talk about how you can use the My Disney Experience app’s “modify dining” feature to adjust your dining plans.
Making Advance Dining Reservations
As a reminder, you can begin making dining reservations for your trip up to 60 days in advance. Disney Resort guests (and guests of select hotels) can make reservations for the entirety of their hotel reservation (up to 10 days) starting at 60 days prior to check-in date. Some reservations fill up very quickly. As a result, you’ll want to log on to Disney’s website or your My Disney Experience app just before 6:00am EST on the day booking becomes available for your trip.

To make reservations on the website, pull up the page for your desired restaurant and click on “Check Available Days”. You will need to enter your party size and select a date or range to check. For the app, search by restaurant name and tap “Reserve Dining” on the restaurant’s page. From there, the process is similar. You will enter your party size and choose a date or range of dates. Both platforms will show you available times for your selected date(s).
What if your top choices aren’t available when your 60-day window opens? My advice: don’t panic! Other guests may ultimately amend their plans. As a result, it is possible a reservation could open up at a later time. Keep checking back on the My Disney Experience app or Disney’s website for potential cancellations.

Modifying Existing Reservations
Sometimes, you may make an advance dining reservation and decide to change your plans. If you need to cancel or modify a reservation, be aware that each restaurant has its own cancellation deadline. Most locations require you to cancel at least two hours prior to your reservation time to avoid the cancellation fee. However, some restaurants require even earlier cancellation to avoid being charged a fee. You can find cancellation information on the Disney website, in your My Disney Experience app, or in the reservation confirmation email.
If you need to modify rather than cancel a reservation, you can easily accomplish the task in your My Disney Experience app. Tap on the hamburger menu in the bottom right corner. To view your existing dining reservations, you will want to scroll down to the “My Plans” section. After tapping on “My Plans”, you will be taken to a screen that shows you a day-by-day breakdown of existing plans and reservations linked to your account. Simply select the applicable day and tap on the dining reservation you want to modify. Tapping on “Get Details” will allow you to view information about the reservation such as the reservation time, number of guests, and your confirmation number.

You will see a pencil icon denoting the option to modify your reservation. Once you tap “modify”, you will be taken to a screen where you can go through the familiar process of checking for availability. Any available times for your selected date will be displayed. From there, the process is the same as confirming an initial dining reservation. When you’re all done making your modification request, you will receive a confirmation email detailing the updated reservation.
