Disney Adults know how to celebrate. Therefore, it’s no surprise that many head to The Most Magical Place On Earth when they are ready to let loose for their special occasion. We all have a birthday that comes around once a year, and many of us have a bucket list to celebrate another trip around the sun while visiting Walt Disney World. Fortunately, the MouseHouseNews.net team has personal experiences with having birthdays while on a Disney trip. Now we’re happy to share some ideas with you that can help you make your birthday magical!
Let ‘Em Know (Wear A Button Or Shirt)
When you are on a Disney vacation, it is easy to let others participate in your celebration. Disney keeps celebratory buttons on hand, including birthday buttons, just for these purposes. The buttons are completely free, and you can ask for one at any Guest Relations window at the theme parks, check-in desks at Disney Resorts, and merchandise shops. When you wear a birthday button, be prepared for Disney Cast Members and even random strangers to wish you a Happy Birthday!

Similarly, you can bring a special shirt to wear on your birthday. Erin did that on her birthday recently. These shirts can oftentimes be found from online sellers and marketplaces such as Etsy. Just like when you wear a Disney birthday button, you will hear the birthday wishes fly wherever you go.

Visit Your Favorite Theme Park
It goes without saying that you’ll want to make an appearance at your favorite Disney World theme park on your birthday. Having fun should be something that just happens on your special day, so make time for your favorite rides. Treat yourself to some snacks and merch while at the theme parks… you deserve it! When people back home ask how you spent your birthday, you can proudly tell them about the Disney fun you had.

Don’t forget to visit with some characters while you’re there! They will make you feel great on your special day.
Get Pixie-Dusted
This suggestion is made both literally and figuratively. Are you aware that you can get pixie-dusted at Magic Kingdom? Just visit Sir Mickey’s, which is behind Cinderella Castle! A Cast Member will be able to use a special wand to spread pixie-dust all over your head. Just be prepared to have sparkly “pixie-dust” in your hair and on your shirt, which means you’ll want to wash it out before going to bed at night.
You can also figuratively get some pixie-dust at Disney World. Translation: Cast Members may give you some extra attention. When they see that you are celebrating a birthday, you may get things such as a free treats at a restaurant or maybe even the best seat in the house! Just understand that you are not entitled to anything (sorry, just keepin’ it real). You may get something, or you may not. Please don’t ask for anything that you are not entitled to… that seriously ruins the spontaneous magic and can lead to an awkward situation if you are denied. Let the magic come to you; don’t force it.
Document Your Celebration With Photos
There are many places that have photo props specifically for birthdays. Among them are many resort lobbies and even along the Festival of Fantasy Parade route near the Fire Station in Magic Kingdom (PhotoPass Photographers have them around parade time). Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort also has a birthday button prop at their PhotoPass Studio on the second floor. It’s a great opportunity to get a birthday photo from Disney World… because if there’s no photo, it didn’t happen.

Eat A Nice Dinner
Why not top off your birthday with a nice dinner? Everyone loves good food, and there’s no shortage at Disney World. No matter your preferences, there’s a restaurant for you. Just be sure to make an advance dining reservation if you’re eyeing a table service restaurant. Those reservations can fill up, especially for the popular locations.

Remember how I mentioned the opportunity to get pixie-dusted earlier? I personally had a pixie-dusting moment at Toledo. While staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, I stopped by for a birthday dinner. While I was waiting for the bill, my waiter also dropped off a dessert. I wasn’t expecting it, and he just slid it in front of me. It was a great surprise!
Of course, there are other ways to celebrate. I hope this list provides you with some ideas to get started. MouseHouseNews.net will bring you more ideas to enhance your next Disney World trip.
