Change continues to roll through Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, and another longtime location is preparing to serve its final guests next month. Westward Ho, the small but iconic snack stand near the entrance to Frontierland, is expected to close after June 21, 2026 as construction on the upcoming Piston Peak expansion continues.
The closure has not yet received a formal announcement from Disney, but multiple indicators strongly point toward the location shutting down for good. Westward Ho no longer appears on the My Disney Experience map, and the Walt Disney World operating calendar currently shows no operating hours listed beginning June 22, 2026.
For years, Westward Ho has been a reliable Frontierland snack stop for guests looking for frozen lemonade, mini corn dogs, cold brew coffee, and the fan-favorite Candied Bacon Skewer. That bacon skewer recently relocated to Golden Oak Outpost, which many Disney fans viewed as the first sign that changes were coming to the area. Westward Ho is also home to the Mickey-shaped Bacon-Pecan-Caramel Cinnamon Roll, which MouseHouseNews.net reviewed back in February.

Why The Closure?
The closure comes as Disney continues clearing space for the upcoming Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park expansion. Construction has already dramatically reshaped Frontierland over the past year, including the closure of Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and Big Al’s merchandise kiosk.

Westward Ho may be a relatively small location, but it has long contributed to the atmosphere and charm of Frontierland. Its rustic western styling and quick snack offerings made it a convenient stop for guests heading toward attractions like the newly-renovated Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Country Bear Musical Jamboree. Losing another opening-day-era style Frontierland fixture continues the steady transformation of one of Magic Kingdom’s most historic lands.
Disney will likely add more construction walls throughout Frontierland this summer as crews continue preparing the area for Piston Peak. Other nearby snack carts and walkways will likely be impacted as the project progresses.
Guests wanting one last visit to Westward Ho should plan to stop by before June 22, while the classic Frontierland snack stand is still serving guests.
