Disney Adults, You May Need To Start Bringing Your Favorite COMFORTS From Home When You Visit Disney World!

Disney strives to make their resorts feel like a home away from home. No matter which tier of Disney Resorts Collection Hotel you have booked, you’ll appreciate having some extra touches on hand to feel more comfortable. This is especially true if you have specific preferences when it comes to the products you use. Today, I want to discuss a few items Disney Adults may want to bring from home to accommodate their unique needs and individual tastes. Even if you don’t consider yourself “picky”, you may find yourself craving some comforts from home on your next Disney World Trip. Here are some things to keep in mind…

A Comfy Pillow For A Good Night’s Sleep

We all know how imperative a good night’s sleep is. Waking up with a cramp in your neck, a sore back, or a headache can easily bring aspirations of maximizing Early Theme Park Entry to a screeching halt. While Disney does stock resort rooms with plenty of comfortable pillows, they may not be the right kind of pillow for you.

If you fight with your pillow all night, you’ll regret your decision to attend Early Entry

The pillows in Disney Resort rooms skew more soft and squishy than firm. Your head will sink down into them, like a fluffy cloud. That can be a dreamy escape for some guests. However, Disney Adults who prefer a more firm pillow may not find them to be the most comfortable. I tend to stack a couple of Disney pillows to get the amount of support I personally prefer (I actually do this at home too, so it’s probably a “me” thing).

If you want to guarantee a good night’s rest, you may want to consider packing your preferred pillow from home. While this obviously takes up significant real estate in your luggage, at least you won’t be tossing and turning all night long! If you decide to bring your own pillow, I have a bonus tip. Cover it with a bright colored pillowcase to differentiate it from the white pillowcases Disney uses. You don’t want to accidentally leave your favorite pillow behind at check out!

Toiletries & Soap, Because We All Have Our Favorites

Toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, and lotion are standard in Disney Resort rooms. Many people (myself included) love the Sea Marine and Sea Salt fragrances of these products! This being said, there are a couple of reasons why you may still want to pack your own items from home.

There will be toiletries for you… you just might prefer your own more

First of all, many Disney Adults have a particular kind of shampoo or conditioner they like to use daily. Do you want benefits like color-safe, volumizing, or unscented? Those are good reasons to pack travel sizes of your favorite products from home.

Another reason why some people may choose to bring their own products involves their comfort level with using the same dispensers countless guests have used before them. To give some context, Disney used to provide single-use bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in guest rooms. In recent years, these products have transitioned to wall-mounted dispensers located in the tub/shower area (instead of the little bottles guests can take home). To provide a bit of reassurance, I will point out that these dispensers are secured such that only housekeeping staff can open them.

You can see pump dispensers on the vanity in this photo from Disney’s Contemporary Resort

For better or for worse, this brings us to the fact that Disney has also started to use refillable dispensers for liquid hand soap and body lotion in resort rooms. These items are not secured to the wall, which may cause some guests to feel a bit “weirded out” about using them. If this is you, you may want to pack some of your own for your trip. Bar soap is still provided, so you could also use that as an alternative to the liquid soap or body wash as well.

Let’s Quickly Talk TP

Many people have strong feelings surrounding their preferred brand of toilet paper. Unfortunately, Disney World has extremely thin, single-ply toilet paper. While you can’t control what’s available at restrooms in the theme parks, you can certainly bring a roll for your resort room. It’s not an absolute necessity since Disney obviously provides some. Having some higher quality toilet paper available can certainly make your stay a little more pleasant though!

Dr. Pepper Fans Take Heed

So, we’ve established that many Disney Adults have strong preferences about everything from pillows to toilet paper. However, it’s time to talk about perhaps the biggest preference of all: beverages. Unfortunately, I have bad news for all of you diehard Dr. Pepper fans out there. Although there are many options with which you can fill your Rapid Fill Refillable Mug, Dr. Pepper is not one of them. Disney World has an exclusivity agreement with Coca-Cola. As a result, Dr. Pepper is not officially sold in Disney World. The lone McDonald’s on Disney World property can’t even rescue you… they don’t have it either. The closest you can get at most locations is Pibb Xtra, which we all know is not the same (sorry!).

Even in the Freestyle machines, you will only find Pibb Xtra

If you or someone you love has Dr. Pepper flowing through their veins, there are a couple of ways to acquire your favorite beverage:

  • If traveling by car, you can bring it with you or hit up a local grocery store.
  • Another alternative is to have groceries delivered to your resort. Bell services (aka Luggage Assistance) can even hold your order for you to pick up, if necessary.
  • Finally, you can stop by Fuel inside Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort to purchase bottled Dr. Pepper. The Marriott-owned Dolphin is in the EPCOT Resort Area, which makes it easily accessible via boat transportation or walking path from EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Here’s a bonus tip: Fuel is also one of several unexpected places you can find DOLE Whip® in Disney World! The best part? It’s a self-serve machine, so you can dispense as little (or as much) as you want!

It’s The Little Things

As you begin packing for your next Disney World vacation, you may want to think about including a few of these items. Disney Adults with discerning tastes will appreciate having a few small enhancements to feel more at home.

After all, the more comfortable you are, the more you can focus on the fun! Don’t forget to prepare yourself not only for rainy weather, but also the heat and crowds as well. Stay tuned to MouseHouseNews.net for more tips you can use on your next magical vacation. We’ll see you real soon!
