The Debut Of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Is OFFICIALLY On The Calendar

The countdown is officially on. After months of anticipation and a major transformation behind construction walls, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is set to officially debut on May 26, 2026 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios… and this reimagined thrill ride is bringing a whole new kind of chaotic energy to Sunset Boulevard.

A New Era Kicks Off This Summer

May 26th is shaping up to be a big day across Walt Disney World, and this high-speed coaster is front and center. The opening aligns with Disney’s Cool Kids’ Summer offerings, giving guests a fresh headline attraction right as peak travel season ramps up.

The new version replaces Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which officially closed on March 1, 2026, ending a 25+ year run as one of the park’s most iconic thrill rides.

Same Thrills, Totally New Vibe

The ride system itself isn’t changing, and that’s a good thing. The high-speed launch, inversions, and dark ride elements that made this coaster a fan favorite are all sticking around.

What is changing? Pretty much everything else. Guests will now step into a Muppets-run version of G-Force Records, where Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are gearing up for their biggest concert yet. Naturally, things don’t go according to plan. The result is a chaotic, music-fueled race through Hollywood in a super-stretch limo.

A Playlist That Leans Into the Mayhem

One of the biggest updates comes through the ride’s soundtrack. Instead of a single band like Aerosmith, the new experience features a rotating lineup of songs performed by the Electric Mayhem, blending classic rock energy with Muppet-style humor.

Confirmed tracks include:

  • “Born to Be Wild” (ft. Camilla the Chicken)
  • “Walking on Sunshine” (ft. Kelly Clarkson)
  • “Song 2”
  • “Love Rollercoaster” (ft. Jennifer Hudson & Questlove)
  • “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” (ft. Def Leppard)

Each ride could feel slightly different depending on the track you receive, giving this coaster some added replay value right out of the gate.

Queue, Pre-Show, and Storyline Upgrades

The transformation goes beyond just the ride itself. The queue and pre-show have been completely reworked to match the new storyline, featuring:

  • A Muppets takeover of the recording studio
  • Celebrity cameos woven into the experience
  • Signature Muppet humor from start to finish

Expect appearances from familiar faces like Scooter and Animal, along with the kind of fourth-wall-breaking comedy that the Muppets are known for. Who might be included in those celebrity cameos, you ask? How about Yvette Nicole Brown, Wayne Brady, Danny Trejo, John Stamos, and Neil Patrick Harris for starters?

Why This Opening Matters

This Muppets transition isn’t just a simple overlay. It’s a major shift for Sunset Boulevard and for the park as a whole. The original Aerosmith version had been a staple since 1999, and swapping it out signals a broader move toward Disney-owned IP and more flexible storytelling.

It’s coming May 26th!

At the same time, the Muppets bring a different tone… less intense rock concert, more controlled chaos. That change could broaden the appeal while still keeping the ride thrilling.
