Everyone Can Now Get This TREAT At Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Ice cream is a classic treat all year long. As the weather warms up, this Disney World mainstay becomes even more appealing. You can easily find a variety of ice cream treats and novelties around Disney property. No matter if you choose a Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar or a unique ice cream creation, you can cool off in the most tasty way.

If you’ll be hopping in to Animal Kingdom anytime soon, you may be on lookout for unique snack ideas. If so, consider stopping by Terra Treats on Discovery Island. Although it previously sold specialty hot dogs and beverages, the menu has changed over the last couple of months. Terra Treats now serves up hand-scooped ice cream cones, ice cream sandwiches, floats, and beverages. This is also where you’ll find the Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich that practically everyone’s been talking about lately. Another new-ish addition to the menu is an item that was formerly an Annual Passholder-exclusive. Let’s talk about it!

Carrot Cake Sundae

Earlier this year, we told you about the Carrot Cake Sundae. It debuted during the distribution period for the newest Zootopia-themed Annual Passholder magnet. Inspired by Judy Hopps, the sundae is composed of Vanilla Ice Cream, Caramel Sauce, Roasted Pecan and Carrot Cake Crumbs in a Waffle Bowl, topped with a Birthday Cake-flavored Shell and Chocolate Carrot Top.

The Carrot Cake Sundae is now available to everyone

MouseHouseNews.net team member Marcus gave you his initial thoughts about this treat back in early March. We’re back again now that it’s available on the regular menu. Does it still live up to the initial impression?

Revisiting This Specialty Ice Cream Treat

To start, the presentation is still adorable. With the orange shell-topping and chocolate carrot top, it really does look like a little (round) carrot inside the waffle bowl. The ice cream was a basic vanilla, but there’s so many flavors going on that your taste buds won’t be bored.

The carrot cake underneath the ice cream still seems like an unexpected surprise

Personally, I really enjoyed both the caramel sauce and the carrot cake that was underneath the ice cream. Be aware that if you’re visiting on a hot summer day, it will start to melt quickly. The day that I enjoyed this particular treat, the temperature was only around 80 degrees. My sundae started melting before I even left the pickup window, which is something to keep in mind.

Final Verdict

For $8.99, it’s a decently shareable size if you and your crew want to give it a try. There are some interesting flavor elements, but they play together nicely to create a unique treat. Again, you’ll just want to be aware of how quickly it may start to melt in the Florida heat.
