If you were hoping to register for the 2027 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend and don’t already have a confirmed registration, unfortunately, you’re already too late.

General registration opened today, July 7, 2026, and hopeful participants flooded the virtual waiting room prior to the 10:00 AM Eastern registration opening time. Within the first hour of registration, some race events had already reached capacity. The virtual waiting room was open early in the morning

For some hopeful and longtime runDisney participants who missed out, the news is certainly disappointing but far from surprising.

The 2027 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend will take place from April 8 – April 11, 2027 at Walt Disney World. The event lineup includes the Springtime Surprise 5K on Friday, April 9; the Springtime Surprise 10K on Saturday, April 10; the 10-Miler on Sunday, April 11; and the Springtime Surprise Challenge, which consists of all three races throughout the weekend. The Springtime Surprise Weekend is the final event of the 2026 – 2027 runDisney season.

Each year, runDisney continues to attract a growing audience of Disney Adults looking to combine a race weekend with a Walt Disney World vacation. Registration day has increasingly become a race of its own, with participants logging into the virtual waiting room well before registration opens in hopes of securing a coveted race bib.

The Popularity Is Real

The Springtime Surprise Weekend has become one of runDisney’s most popular race weekends thanks to its unique blend of race distances, themed entertainment, character encounters, and exclusive event merchandise. The 10-Miler, in particular, has developed a unique following among runners who enjoy a distance that falls somewhere between a traditional 10K and half marathon.

1+ hour wait times in the waiting room are normal

The Springtime Surprise Challenge was the first race to sell out, with that notification being posted approximately 55 minutes after the opening of registration. The 10K was next to sell out, around 1 hour and 5 minutes after registration began. Next to go was the 10-miler 90 minutes after registration began. That left the 5K, with an increased capacity for 2027, which sold out 1 hour 40 minutes after registration opened.

When you’re still waiting and EVERYTHING sells out

The rapid sellout also reflects a larger trend across the runDisney community. Recent race weekends have consistently sold out faster than many participants expect. Marathon Weekend, Princess Half Marathon Weekend, and Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend have all seen extraordinary demand in recent years. Springtime Surprise has now firmly joined that group of must-register-immediately events.

You get warm and fuzzy inside once your 1+ hour wait turns into this screen

When races begin disappearing within the first hour of registration and an entire race weekend sells out in just a couple of hours, it sends a powerful message. If you’re hoping to participate in a future runDisney event, showing up right when registration opens is no longer a recommendation; it’s practically a requirement.
