Visiting Disney World This Weekend? Here’s Some of the HOLIDAY Fun You Can Have!

One thing that has been true for many years is that holiday weekends draw more people to Walt Disney World. There will be no exception to this rule as we get closer to the weekend, as many schools are not in session Friday and, with Easter occurring on Sunday, some districts will have their Spring Break next week. If you are amongst the many others heading to Walt Disney World this weekend and are looking for some Easter festivities, we have some ideas that will put you in a festive mood!

If you are in the area of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, make a visit to The Grand Cottage. The Grand Cottage is a holiday snack kiosk set up in the lobby of the Grand Floridian. While there, you can purchase a number of spring treats including a Cream Cheese-Carrot Coffee Cake and a box of Macarons. There is also a Bunny Burrow Dirt Cup, which is a multi-layered dessert much like a cupcake, only inside a cup.

The Bunny Burrow Dirt Cup is available at The Grand Cottage and also at Gasparilla Island Grill

The MouseHouseNews.net team recently tried this creation and, sadly, we do not recommend this one. The layers easily come apart, and the layer of icing separated from the cake layers. Overall, it ended up being extremely messy and unsatisfying. While the Bunny Burrow Dirt Cup was visually appealing, we cannot recommend it.

On a better note, you may recall the MouseHouseNews.net team has previously reported that there are Easter Egg displays in the lobby at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and Disney’s Beach Club Resort. These ornate eggs were decorated by Cast Members of Disney’s culinary team (the same team that brings you the gingerbread displays towards the end of the year). You can find more detailed information about the egg displays here.

We have also previously reported that there is an Easter brunch offered at Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney has now added to their list of dining locations offering an Easter brunch. Therefore, if you visit any of the following Deluxe resort restaurants on Sunday, April 20th, be aware that the regular menu items will not be available as they will be serving a modified Easter brunch menu at the following locations and times:

  • Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort from 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Whispering Canyon Cafe over at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge from 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village from 11:30 AM – 9:30 PM
  • Ale & Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort from 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM

There are also festive snacks and desserts to be had around Walt Disney World Resort. Be sure to take a closer look in the refrigerated sections of any resort’s quick-service dining location to see what’s available. We found this Thumper Carrot Cake at Centertown Market Grab & Go at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

Finally, if you are into pin collecting, be on the lookout for a Limited Edition holiday Easter pin for 2025! We found this one at Discovery Trading Company in Disney’s Animal Kingdom for $22.99 plus tax.
