Some of the main reasons to stay on site at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel revolve around the many amenities at the resort, including the swimming pools (for those days when you need a break from the theme parks). Not all resort pools are equal and, with pool hopping being largely against the rules, it matters which resort you book if you want a really nice pool. Without question, the best resort pool at Walt Disney World can be found between sister Disney properties Yacht Club and Beach Club.

Stormalong Bay is more akin to a water park than a pool, as the 795,000 gallon aquatic paradise includes a sand-covered pool bottom, a lazy river you can float down in an inner tube, and a life-sized replica of a shipwreck scene from which you can slide down a 230-foot long waterslide into the water. Unfortunately, guests of Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club resorts have been unable to use this pool area since January thanks to scheduled renovations (other, smaller pools at the resorts remain available for these guests). The MouseHouseNews.net team recently went over to Stormalong Bay to check on the progress of the renovations, and we found some major work being performed.

Obviously, it is quite jarring to see an area that is normally covered in so much water be bone dry, but that is exactly what we saw. There is plenty of scaffolding and walls put up, ensuring people stay clear of the construction area, but it seems the construction work is coming along. If you have plans to stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort or Disney’s Beach Club Resort, please know that you will likely hear and see some construction work during daytime hours in the area of Stormalong Bay as well as Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. Also affected by this construction is Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill, which remains closed.

Disney has maintained their original timeline for this project, expecting it to wrap up by June 2025. However, be prepared for construction to go into July or later just in case. The last thing you want to do is book a room in one of these resorts expecting to make use of Stormalong Bay early this summer, only to find that the construction schedule has been extended.

However, if you do end up at one of these resorts while Stormalong Bay is closed, you are free to use one of the other pools on the Yacht and Beach Club property. The Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove leisure pools remain available for guests of either resort to utilize.

We will keep an eye on this story and update you if the renovation schedule changes. Here’s to hoping it will be open just in time for the hot Orlando summer! Come back to MouseHouseNews.net for more Disney Vacation News and Reviews for Disney Adults, and we’ll keep you informed!
