Visiting the Most Magical Place On Earth comes with certain expectations. For instance, you can expect to feel a strong urge to buy a really cool souvenir. The Disney World merchandise you see in the parks always has at least something you’ll want to buy to remember your trip, so the gift shops stay busy. Busy stores mean long lines, and sometimes you just want to pick out your goods and get going. I’ve got the perfect solution for you!
You will see signs at many of the bigger gift shops inviting you to use Mobile Checkout. What is this feature, and why do you want to use it? Let’s take a deeper dive.
What Is Mobile Checkout?
Mobile Checkout is available in the MyDisneyExperience app. It is used in conjunction with your MyDisney account, which is required to use Mobile Checkout. Therefore, you can easily access your saved information to pay for your items while skipping the long lines. Also, the app will apply your discounts if you are a Passholder, DVC member, or Disney Visa cardholder. You do still have the ability to add another non-saved payment method as well. In fact, you can use the following payment methods with Mobile Checkout:
- Credit Cards
- Debit Cards
- Disney Gift Cards
- Disney Rewards Redemption Cards
- Apple Pay
How To Use Mobile Checkout
To use Mobile Checkout, you will go to select gift shops, then perform the following steps in the MyDisneyExperience app:
- Select the + icon and find the Merchandise Mobile Checkout option
- Scan the barcodes on your merchandise as you shop
- Select “Check Out” and pay on your phone
- On your way out of the shop, show your QR confirmation code to a Disney Cast Member stationed near the exit
- A receipt will be emailed to the email address associated with your MyDisney account

So, where can you utilize Mobile Checkout? At the time of publishing, you can skip the line at these locations:
- Emporium (Magic Kingdom)
- Star Traders (Magic Kingdom)
- Tomorrowland Launch Depot (Magic Kingdom)
- Creations Shop (EPCOT)
- Treasures of Xandar (EPCOT)
- Mickey’s of Hollywood (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
- Discovery Trading Company & Riverside Depot (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park)
- Island Mercantile (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park)
- World of Disney® (Disney Springs)
I love interacting with Cast Members in the gift shops. That seems to be where I give a lot of Cast Compliments. However, there are times when I just don’t want to stand in the long lines. In those cases, I don’t hesitate to use Mobile Checkout. It makes me feel like I won the lottery to skip the line and get back to what’s important to me.
