At MouseHouseNews.net, we love Disney Deluxe resorts! We don’t love the price tags, but we certainly love everything the deluxe resorts have to offer. The MouseHouseNews.net team has reported on all of the amenities that make deluxe resorts tops including unique dining options such as Boma – Flavors of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and the numerous free transportation options. The varied transportation options, collectively, is one of the top selling points of a Disney deluxe hotel. All of the deluxe hotels, with the exception of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, offer bus transportation plus at least one other option. However, there will be one other deluxe hotel joining Animal Kingdom Lodge in having bus-only transportation soon.
If you have plans to stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge next month, you’ll want to take note of this news. This resort offers bus transportation as well as boat transportation to select destinations. Wilderness Lodge will undergo routine maintenance to the boat dock in January through April 2026. Because the full dock will be affected, there will be a time when Disney will be closing the dock entirely. This means that you will not be able to take the boat to Magic Kingdom. Also affected will be your ability to ride the Blue Flag line to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground or Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Currently, Disney expects this entire boat dock closure to last from January 12th – January 30th. This, unfortunately, means that most of January will see no boat service to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Bus transportation will be provided to Magic Kingdom, so you won’t see an interruption in service there. However, to get to Fort Wilderness or the Contemporary, you will need to ride a bus to Magic Kingdom, then transfer to a bus headed to Fort Wilderness or board the Resort Monorail (or walk) to the Contemporary.
We know it can be inconvenient when transportation options are reduced, but the good thing is that there is still a free option to get to these destinations from Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. This temporary maintenance is much like the maintenance occurring on the Disney Skyliner at the end of January which affects other resorts. Disney must perform these scheduled procedures to prevent unexpected breakdowns and maintain a certain level of safety. It is something to keep in mind, however, if you are visiting a resort affected by transportation maintenance next month.
