There’s nothing like kicking back and relaxing when you’re on vacation. Sometimes, at Disney World in particular, visitors feel the need to rush around trying to do and see everything. However, with so much to do, that’s unfortunately not possible (in one trip at least). If your ideal vacation includes time spent sipping on a tropical beverage while soaking in soothing island vibes, then read on for a lounge you may want to try.

One of the most talked about and highly coveted spots in Disney World is Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. It’s an immersive tropical tiki bar that features unique drinks, tasty food, and interactive elements (order particular drinks and trigger special effects!). The non-stop action, playful decor, captivating environment, and continuous interaction between guests and Cast Members inside is a one-of-a-kind experience. However, sometimes you may just want to grab a drink and avoid all of the “extra” that comes along with such a crowded and chaotic scene. This is when the nearby Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace (also at Disney’s Polynesian Village) could be just the place you are seeking. This outdoor bar offers the same drinks and menu items as the highly sought after Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, but with a much more laid back ambiance.

Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is open from 3:00pm to 11:00pm daily. There is seating available on the outdoor patio if you want to hang around and enjoy the island vibes, or you can visit the walk up bar and order your drinks to go.

In the evenings, there are often live music performances. The MouseHouseNews.net team also enjoys visiting this relaxing spot in the afternoon, since seating is easy to find and we really appreciate the nearby waterfall feature wall. It’s worth noting that every time we’ve visited, the service has been friendly and attentive.

As mentioned before, the same appetizers and drinks are served in both locations. However, it’s important to note that the outdoor location does not feature the interactive elements you see inside the Grog Grotto. If those aspects are an important part of the experience for you, definitely get yourself on the wait list for the indoor lounge!

Some of the MouseHouseNews.net team’s favorite drinks at Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace include the Hippopoto-Mai-Tai and the Polynesian Pearl. Along with an extensive menu of specialty cocktails, Tiki Terrace also has several non-alcoholic and zero proof options such as the Schweitzer Falls! If you’re a collector of the famous Trader Sam’s souvenir tiki mugs, don’t worry. You can get those here too!

While the overall atmospheres of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace are extremely different from one another, both will offer the same delicious drinks and an amazing experience. A visit to Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is always on the MouseHouseNews.net team’s “must-do list” whenever we’re at Walt Disney World. Come sit at an umbrella table, order a specialty cocktail, enjoy the island breeze, and see why for yourself!
