One of the most unique experiences you can take part in at Walt Disney World is to dine with Disney characters. Luckily, there are a number of table service restaurants across the resorts where you can do just that. However, some character dining locations simply don’t have the best reputations regarding food quality. Obviously, nobody wants to pay a lot of money for a lackluster meal. I’m happy to report that there is a character breakfast that I can give my stamp of approval!

Recently, the MouseHouseNews.net team dined at Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Topolino’s Terrace is a table service restaurant that offers two distinct dining experiences. At dinner time, the restaurant is a fancy signature dining location featuring sophisticated tastes of the Riviera. But, for breakfast, Topolino’s has a character dining experience. Our team tried the breakfast, dubbed Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends. Erin and I grabbed our berets just for this breakfast, then arrived for our early 7:30 AM reservation. Now we’re here to spill the beans about our adventure.

Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends is a prix-fixe breakfast. The cost is currently $52 per adult and $33 for children ages 3 – 9. Upon entering the dining room, we were provided with menus and our drink orders were taken. I obviously opted for the famous POG Juice. They also have a few blends of coffee, some breakfast cocktails, zero-proof cocktails, and other non-alcoholic drinks at extra cost.

Entree Options
The options for the adult menu entrees were pretty streamlined and not overwhelming. At the time we dined, these were the choices:
- Two Eggs – Any Style
- Sour Cream Waffle
- Fruit Plate
- Avocado and Smoked Salmon Toast
- Wood-Fired Steak and Eggs
- Quiche Gruyère
- Wild Mushroom Scramble (this is the plant-based option)
- Eggs Benedict Florentine
- French Toast
Once our waiter took our entree orders, we were provided with bread service. For breakfast, this consists of a variety of pastries including chocolate chip mini-muffins and apple turnovers. We were also provided some whipped butter, hazelnut spread, and a chocolate sauce to use with our pastries. This part of the meal isn’t necessarily on the menu, so your selection may vary.

The Characters
Shortly after receiving our pastries, the entertainment began. There was an announcement introducing each of the characters one by one. For Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends, you can expect to see Mickey the Painter, Minnie the Poet, Donald the Sculptor, and Daisy the Ballerina all in their occupational outfits.
Each character is introduced, then makes their way through the dining area to say hello. After all introductions are done, the characters will begin visiting each table to meet their guests.

Food Review
It doesn’t take much time for your entrees to be delivered. Since there are not a lot of options to choose from, my guess is that they keep churning out some of each entree so there is not a long wait time. I ordered the Wood-Fired Steak and Eggs, so they probably left my steak on longer than usual because I like mine cooked well done. Erin opted for the Sour Cream Waffle with bacon as her side.

I thought my steak, served as three medallions, had a good flavor. The texture, however, was pretty fibrous. Having said that, I didn’t go into this experience thinking I was getting a filet mignon. The steak was served on a bed of polenta, which helped offset the tough cut of meat. As I mentioned, the flavor was good with ample seasoning and my desired cook temperature was achieved. The entree comes with two eggs – any style. I chose scrambled eggs. They were just so-so. The scrambled eggs reminded me of liquid eggs that were cooked for a little less time than usual around Disney World. If you’ve ever had any version of Totchos, it was like those eggs but a little runnier. Finally, the roasted potatoes were pretty decent. They were nicely seasoned and adequately roasted but, obviously with any starch, they will make you thirsty.

Erin’s Sour Cream Waffle actually came with three waffle squares. They were topped sparingly with roasted apple slices, raspberries, and a huge dollop of Chantilly Cream… emphasis on huge! There was also a side of orange-maple syrup and your preferred side. Erin chose bacon for her side. This entree was a unanimous hit. The only critique we could give is to go a little lighter on the Chantilly Cream. If you use the entire dollop that you are given, you’ll get the feeling that they gave you some waffles with your cream. However, everything on the plate was delicious and the four slices of bacon were cooked perfectly: thin and crispy, but not hard.

Character Interactions
Be prepared to stop chowing down abruptly to meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy when they come to your table. They do roam around separately so you get to spend ample amounts of time with each of them, so this interruption will happen multiple times. However, with any character meal, you are expecting it. Have your phone and/or camera ready to snap photos of your interactions. Unfortunately, there is not a Disney PhotoPass photographer on hand, but you can certainly ask a nearby Cast Member if they can take a picture of you with your phone. In addition to the photos you will capture, you will also receive a commemorative autograph card to serve as proof you dined at Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends. The card has a nice photo of the artists on the front, with their signatures on the back of the card.

All in all, Erin and I spent about 90 minutes at this character breakfast. This time included going out to the 10th floor balcony to enjoy the view from the top. We agree that there is a good amount of entertainment to keep anyone from becoming bored during their meal. First there’s the actual character meet and greets which, in our experience, included multiple visits from each character. Then there’s the entertaining shows that are performed for the entire restaurant. At one point, Daisy came to me and gave me a kiss when I wasn’t even looking!
Final Thoughts
Our verdict on Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends is that we will definitely be back. This is a well-run breakfast that is certainly worth your time and money if you are looking to do something special on your Disney World vacation. Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera was one of those restaurants that was always a bucket list item. The only question is, will my next visit be for breakfast or dinner?

Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort is a highly-coveted Advance Dining Reservation for both breakfast and dinner, so if you would like to go, be sure to snag a reservation as soon as possible. Remember that the reservation window opens 60 days prior to your visit (and if you are staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel, you can book for the first 10 days of your hotel reservation). Just beware that if you plan to visit in January 2026, the Disney Skyliner will be out of service between January 25th – January 31st. You will need to find an alternate form of transportation to Disney’s Riviera. Come back to MouseHouseNews.net and we will keep bringing you more Disney Vacation News and Reviews for Disney Adults.
