Imagine browsing a Disney World gift shop when you spot it: the absolute perfect-for-you souvenir shirt. Excitedly, you start flipping through the hangers looking for your size. Your desperation grows as you don’t see the size you need on the hanger markers. Then you start checking the label of each shirt to make sure that they’re on the correct hangers. With a sinking heart, you realize that it was all fruitless. Your size isn’t there. You resign yourself to the knowledge that you will never own that piece of merchandise. However, guess what? There’s still hope! All you need to do is check with a nearby Cast Member.
How Cast Members Can Assist
Cast Members are magical. Not only are they available to make sure everything runs smoothly, but they can also provide assistance when things go wrong. While it’s a minor inconvenience, not being able to find your size in merchandise can still be frustrating. I have good news for you. Cast Members are able to look up merchandise availability.
When Merchandise Is Already At Your Location
If you can’t find your size in an item, simply ask a Cast Member. They can use their system to check in-stock availability for specific merchandise sizing at all locations on property. Sometimes, the size you need may be in a storage room at that shop. That’s the best case scenario! In those situations, the Cast Member can grab the item you want and you can purchase it right then and there.
I’ll give an example from personal experience. Back during the Disney100 celebration, there was a Spirit Jersey™ honoring the occasion that I really loved. I found it at The Contemporary’s BVG shop. Unfortunately, they only had a couple of sizes on display (spoiler alert, mine wasn’t one of them). I asked one of the amazing Cast Members at the register if they happened to have any more of that item in my size. She was able to pull up the item and see that they should have had some in storage. After a quick phone call, another Cast Member arrived. She was carrying not only a Spirit Jersey™ for me, but also a couple of extra ones in that size to put on the rack. It was quite a magical moment, and I still wear that top with pride!
When Merchandise Is At Another Location
Unfortunately, the size you need will not always be available at your current location. However, the Cast Member assisting you will be able to tell you which stores on property (if any) do have the item in your size. Then, it’s just a matter of deciding when to squeeze in a visit to one of those locations. Thanks to complimentary Disney transportation, the only thing you really need to do is find time to go.
My example for this scenario is a little more recent. A few months ago, I was at World of Disney in Disney Springs. I found an amazing Beauty and the Beast t-shirt there. I purchased it, and all was well. Unfortunately, when I got back to Disney’s Pop Century Resort and tried it on, I decided the shirt wasn’t quite the right size. The next day, I visited Everything Pop Shopping & Dining and asked a Cast Member for help. She was able to locate the size I needed at the gift shop over at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, which was a quick one stop away on the Disney Skyliner. I promptly visited Calypso Trading Post, and Cast Members there were able to easily complete the size exchange for me.
Final Thoughts
The moral of the story is this: If you have a question or issue, ask a Cast Member for help! Oftentimes, they’re able to assist and solve your problem. This being said, you should always be kind, understanding, and realistic. Some situations are simply outside of anyone’s control. If you are able to receive some magic, don’t forget to leave a Cast Compliment!
