What Is A Celebration Button?
For those who are unfamiliar, celebration buttons are complimentary buttons Disney will give you to help celebrate an occasion. There are several buttons currently available:
- First Visit – As the name implies, it’s for those who are celebrating their first visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth.
- Happily Ever After – A button perfect for celebrating weddings and anniversaries.
- Happy Birthday – Are you celebrating a birthday? If so, this is your button!
- I’m Celebrating – These buttons are for any occasion!
Celebration buttons can be customized to specify your occasion. For instance, you can request a Cast Member personalize your Happily Ever After button with the number of “ears” you are celebrating. Birthday and First Visit buttons can be customized with your name. Finally, there is a decent amount of space available on the I’m Celebrating buttons to write in any occasion you wish. The MouseHouseNews.net team has requested I’m Celebrating buttons for occasions like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, runDisney events, and family members’ graduations to name a few. The only limit is your own imagination! You can also rock more than one button at a time. So, if you’re celebrating multiple occasions, go ahead and ask for the buttons you need!
Where Can You Get A Celebration Button?
You can request a celebration button at your resort’s front desk, Guest Services at any of the theme parks, or most merchandise locations. The Cast Member will be able to personalize your button by writing on it with a marker at that time. Here’s a tip: if they don’t cover the writing with a piece of scotch tape at the time of personalization, you may want to do so yourself. We’ve found out the hard way that Celebration Button + marker + sunscreen = marker rubbing off of the button. The MouseHouseNews.net team has taken to bringing a roll of tape in our luggage just in case we need it.
What Does A Celebration Button Do For You?
The short answer is, if you’re wearing a Celebration Button you may get congratulatory messages and well wishes from Cast Members and other guests! You should not expect any “freebies” while wearing your button. If a Cast Member decides to pixie dust you with some extra magic (like a free dessert, for instance), consider that an extra special moment during your vacation. It’s not guaranteed, required, or to be demanded. However, if you do receive any extra magic, submitting a Cast Compliment through the My Disney Experience app might be a nice way to say “thank you”.
What To Do With Your Celebration Button When You Get Home?
You can treat it like any other souvenir. Why not put it on display in a shadowbox or on a shelf? Other creative ideas to display buttons are by turning them into refrigerator magnets or Christmas ornaments. You can even add it to your backpack or continue to wear it when you get back home.
How Else Can Disney Help You Celebrate Different Occasions?
There are many ways to celebrate special occasions while you’re on a Disney World trip. Here are a few ideas:
- Add a specialty cake to your restaurant meal. Disney gives the option of pre-ordering a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake to include in your table-service restaurant meal. Cakes are available in several flavors, and can be personalized with a special message upon request. You can order a cake when you book your dining reservation on the website or through your My Disney Experience app.
- You can also purchase a Mickey Celebration Cake from your resort’s Quick-Service location. They’re usually found in the dessert case.
- Disney has an in-room gift service. You can order flowers, gift baskets, balloons, and more! You can order these special add-ons online or by calling (888) 814-8718.
- Book a Capture Your Moment private photo session through Disney PhotoPass. Capture Your Moment sessions are available in all four theme parks. PhotoPass has a variety of props available to help you commemorate different occasions as part of your 20-minute photo session.
