Springtime brings many exciting events to Walt Disney World. The MouseHouseNews.net team will be on the ground reporting on the sights, sounds, and delicious food at this year’s EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. Spring also brings special Easter activities to Disney World. We can typically expect to see Easter egg displays at several resort hotels, an appearance by the Easter Bunny, a special parade in Magic Kingdom, and much more! Another exciting event that will bring thousands to Disney World in April is the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend.
Springtime Surprise Weekend will take place April 16th through April 20th. The 2026 theme of friendship celebrates iconic Disney duos, blending nostalgia, emotion, and playful storytelling throughout the courses. As we recently reported, runDisney events typically bring large crowds of runners, supporters, and spectators to Disney World. Springtime Surprise is no different. All race events for the weekend are sold out, so you know that means crowds!
Springtime Surprise Weekend is comprised of race distances including a 5K, 10K, 10-miler, and a challenge for runners who wish to take on all three races. All runners have an opportunity to earn bragging rights and a shiny new medal for their collections. Speaking of those medals, let’s take a look at the designs!
Springtime Surprise 5K
- Date: Friday, April 17, 2026
- Distance: 3.1 miles
- Vibe: Fast, fun, and perfect for beginners or casual runners
Finishers of the 5K race themed to Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde have the opportunity to earn this medal that is quite literally a badge of honor.
Springtime Surprise 10K
- Date: Saturday, April 18, 2026
- Distance: 6.2 miles
- Vibe: Bouncy, playful, and nostalgic
Winnie the Pooh and Tigger are ready to share a hunny of a race in this year’s Springtime Surprise 10K. Finishers won’t be saying “oh bother” when they earn this sweet medal!
Springtime Surprise 10-Miler
- Date: Sunday, April 19, 2026
- Distance: 10 miles
- Vibe: Emotional storytelling + endurance challenge
Running through Disney World as part of a runDisney race can be an emotional experience. Participants can celebrate all of their hard work at the finish line when they earn this medal featuring Joy and Sadness from Inside Out.
Springtime Surprise Challenge
- Dates: April 17–19, 2026
- Distance: 19.3 miles total (5K + 10K + 10-Miler)
- Bonus: Finish all three races and earn four medals, including a special Challenge finisher medal
To earn this medal featuring the duo of Aladdin and Genie, runners will complete all three race events. Talk about mile after magical mile!
