Wait Times For Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith Are About To Be LONGER

Wait Times For Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith Are About To Be LONGER

A visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is like stepping directly into the glitz and glam of Hollywood itself. Guests can experience entertaining shows, immersive eateries, thrilling rides, and much more. In the midst of all of the excitement, there are numerous changes on the horizon. The good news is that visitors have a lot to look forward to over the next few years. Unfortunately, these changes also mean saying goodbye forever to other areas and attractions. We’ve already bid farewell to Muppets Courtyard and Star Wars Launch Bay. Now, another Hollywood Studios attraction popular amongst Disney Adults will close in less than two weeks.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith takes riders on a fast-paced trip in a super-stretch limo with a serious sound system. Get ready to speed past iconic Los Angeles landmarks while rocking out to some of Aerosmith’s hit songs. This roller coaster goes from 0 to 57mph in 2.8 seconds, and features two rollover loops and a corkscrew that’ll have everyone screaming (maybe not as stylistically as Steven Tyler’s legendary vocals though…).

The Muppets are coming!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets

Disney has announced the Aerosmith ride will close for several months and return as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. What can we expect from the new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster? Picture this: The Electric Mayhem are about to star in their biggest concert yet. Their adoring fans are waiting for them across town. Unfortunately, they’re still jamming out in the recording studio. Will they be late for the show? You get to join in on the action as you race through Hollywood with the band. Along the way you’ll pass by the same iconic scenery just like before, but with a new Muppets twist. Expect appearances by favorite Muppets including Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Gonzo, Scooter, and more. Disney Adults will also appreciate an updated playlist of hits performed by The Electric Mayhem!

Artist concept of the new ride

But wait, there’s more! Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Courtyard will also be getting a makeover. Disney’s concept art shows a new paint job for the iconic giant guitar that anchors the space. The piano at its base will feature a golden key as a subtle (or not-so-subtle) reference to Dr. Teeth. This sweeping transformation of the attraction and surrounding area will be complete in time for Summer 2026. Stay tuned, because MouseHouseNews.net will bring you the opening date as soon as it’s announced.

Last Day To Ride

As MouseHouseNews.net previously reported, the final date to walk this way and ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will be Sunday, March 1, 2026. The ride is one of the heavy-hitter attractions in the park, often having wait times listed at 60+ minutes. We expect wait times for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will become even longer very soon. This is due to everyone wanting “one last ride” before it closes and transitions to the new Muppets theming. We have seen a similar phenomenon prior to other closures in Disney World recently. As an example, the final weekend of Animal Kingdom’s DINOSAUR saw wait times at 115+ minutes before its permanent closure!

Entrance to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster does have a single rider line. However, it is commonly advised to use the regular queue for this attraction due to major inconsistencies in wait times for this single rider line. In the end, be prepared to wait whether you’re riding by yourself or with a group.

Shorten Your Wait Time

Early Theme Park Entry

There are several ways to decrease your time in line for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster before Aerosmith takes a final bow. First, you can take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry for guests staying at Disney Resorts and other select hotels. As a reminder, this perk allows guests of these resorts to enter Hollywood Studios and begin riding attractions 30 minutes before the park opens to the general public. While 30 minutes might not seem like a lot, Disney Adults know this small head start can be enough to jump in line prior to crowds descending on the area.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Another way to minimize your wait time for this ride is by purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass. This paid “skip the line” service allows guests to avoid the standby line and join a shorter Lightning Lane line instead. If you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you will choose up to three attractions and corresponding arrival windows ahead of your park visit. Disney Resorts guests can make their selections up to 7 days before their resort check-in date. Guests staying off-site can select attractions up to 3 days prior to their park ticket effective date. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is currently included on the list of Lightning Lane Multi Pass eligible attractions. Note that availability may change once the ride reopens with its new Muppets theming. Stay tuned for details!

Disney After Hours

You can also decrease your time in line for this attraction by purchasing a Disney After Hours at Hollywood Studios event ticket. Tickets are currently available for February 21st and February 25th (both of which are currently showing operating times for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster). Along with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, an After Hours ticket also includes access to other select attractions, character meet and greets, and select snacks and beverages. Plus, you can enter Hollywood Studios as early as 7:00pm to get a head start on your evening! Check out our post highlighting our experience with Disney After Hours in Magic Kingdom to get an idea of what to expect during an After Hours event.

Other Potential Impacts

It remains to be seen how Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s closure will affect the surrounding area. Along with the walls that will likely block off the attraction’s entrance, barricades may also temporarily obstruct some of the surrounding courtyard due to the planned exterior upgrades. Potential barriers may also impact the flow of guests heading to and from the Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After show.

Be prepared for a potential traffic shift around Villains: Unfairly Ever After

One thing we can predict with certainty is that the closure of this ride will impact wait times for other Hollywood Studios attractions. Whenever a popular attraction is closed in a Disney theme park, the crowds need somewhere else to go. This means other attractions will experience higher wait times. Definitely pack your patience!

Finally, we expect that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will also experience significant wait times when it debuts this summer. Everyone is going to want to see the latest changes and experience the ride in its new form. Once you also factor in the typical summer crowds, you’re guaranteed long lines. Could we see the return of a virtual queue as well? Time will tell.
