There are many ways to enjoy yourself during a Disney World vacation. You may be wondering where to even start when planning your trip, especially if this will be your first visit. Luckily, the MouseHouseNews.net team writes plenty of articles to help you plan a magical vacation. If you’re a fan of splashing around at water parks, we’ve got an important update to share with you today.
During the winter months, Disney typically keeps only one of their water parks open at a time. Currently, you can enjoy the world’s largest wave pool, multiple water slides, a lazy river, and more aquatic fun at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. However, beginning February 15th, get ready to trade in Crush ‘n’ Gusher for Summit Plummet as Typhoon Lagoon will close for the season and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will reopen.
Typhoon Lagoon will remain temporarily closed from February 15 through May 11, 2026. It will reopen to guests beginning May 12th. At that point, both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be open for everyone to enjoy all summer long!

As a reminder, Disney is bringing back the free water park admission on your resort check-in day perk this summer. This bonus is available to Disney Resorts guests with resort check-in dates between May 26th and September 8th. Plus, staying on-site has the perk of free transportation to the water parks!
If you already have a visit planned prior to those dates, Disney has a special Water Park Seasonal Pass available for just $89 plus tax. This pass allows you to visit whichever water park is open as many times as you want from now until May 9th. Note that blockout dates do apply, so check the details of your pass.
Typhoon Lagoon’s temporary closure means that, after this week, seasonal water park passes will only be valid for admission into Blizzard Beach. So, if you’re a Typhoon Lagoon fan (or want a chance to visit both water parks using the seasonal pass), you’ll need to head over soon!

Of course, you can also stay cool in Disney World even without visiting a water park. Disney Resorts have awesome pools (Stormalong Bay, anyone?). In the theme parks, you could jump on a water ride like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or Kali River Rapids. Alternatively, maybe you just want to sit at the pool bar and sip on an icy-cold tropical beverage. I suggest making time for all of the above!
