The costs of a Walt Disney World vacation can add up quickly. As you plan your trip, you will likely be looking for ways to save money. What if I told you there is a way to enjoy unlimited beverages during your next resort stay, and you only have to pay for it once? Allow me to introduce you to the Disney Rapid Fill Refillable Mug.
Purchasing A Rapid Fill Refillable Mug
Rapid Fill Refillable Mugs are available for purchase at all Disney Resort hotels. You can typically find them at the resort’s quick service restaurant. They’re also available in select merchandise locations. Purchase the mug for a set price, and enjoy unlimited refills at resort self-serve beverage locations for the duration of your stay. At the time of publication, the cost is $22.99 plus tax. They are also included with Disney Dining Plans.
A cast member will activate your Rapid Fill Refillable Mug at the time of purchase. Rapid Fill mugs communicate with soda fountains through the “magic” of an RFID chip in the mug’s base. Once you place your mug on the designated spot at the fountain, press the fill button for your beverage of choice. An on-screen message will inform you of the last date for refills with that mug. The default expiration date is 14 days from activation. If your stay is longer, simply see a cast member and they can extend the date for you.
You can purchase your mug at any resort. It does not have to be the resort at which you are staying. Active Rapid Fill Refillable Mugs can also be used at any resort. This means you should definitely take them along for a day of resort hopping!
Unfortunately, these mugs are not refillable inside of the theme parks. That doesn’t mean they’re not useful in the parks, however. You are able to take an already-filled mug inside the parks. Simply fill up with your favorite beverage before heading out for the day! Upon request, select theme park quick service locations will give you free cups of ice water. You can transfer this ice water into your Rapid Fill Refillable Mug to keep it nice and cold, too.
Available Beverages
In most places, your beverage choices will revolve around basic Coca-Cola fountain drink options. Think beverages like Classic Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, Coke Zero, and Minute Maid Lemonade. You can also typically find Powerade and vitaminwater. Some locations will give you additional options like Cherry Coke, so keep an eye out!
The MouseHouseNews.net team‘s favorite places to get Rapid Fill refills are the locations that have Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. Unfortunately, these machines are not at every resort. We’ve made it our mission to seek them out when resort hopping. For me, there’s nothing like a Lime Coke (or the ability to customize other beverages to my heart’s desire…).
Another option you have for your Rapid Fill Refillable Mug is a selection of cold teas. You can choose from sweetened or unsweetened Gold Peak teas. My personal favorite is the Gold Peak sweetened green tea. It’s very light and refreshing. I highly recommend you give it a try if you like green tea.
If you like to start your day off with a cup (or two…or three…) of coffee, you’re in luck! You can fill up with freshly brewed regular or decaf Joffrey’s coffee. Joffrey’s Resort Blend is described as “a dark blend of 100% Arabica beans from Central and South America with notes of berry and lemon”. Add your desired creamer and sweetener if applicable, and you’ll be on your way for a magical day.
On a cold day, nothing is more cozy than enjoying some delicious Joffrey’s hot cocoa from your Rapid Fill Refillable Mug. Just follow the dispensing instructions on the machine, and you’ll be delighting in rich, chocolatey goodness in no time at all. The hot cocoa machines have definitely drawn crowds during Florida’s recent cold weather!
Mug Wash Stations
Finally, you may be wondering how to clean out your mug while you are at your resort. Disney has “mug wash” areas near the beverage stations where you can rinse out your Rapid Fill Refillable mug between uses. So, you don’t have to worry about residue from the previous night’s Fanta Orange mixing with your morning coffee!
