When you are planning your Walt Disney World vacation, it’s important to keep an eye on the theme park calendar. The calendar shows you the park operating schedules as well as when you can see the entertainment offerings. Disney makes changes to this calendar often, so it’s best to visit the page often for changes. Unfortunately, we just noticed a change that could impact your trip if you will be visiting the last week of January.
Magic Kingdom will be closing at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, January 27th. That means the park will be open for just 7.5 hours that day. However, you will have 8 hours with Early Theme Park Entry if you are staying at a Disney Resort or other select hotels. We’re not exactly sure why the park is closing early this day, so it is likely there’s a private event that evening. The early closure at Magic Kingdom means there will be no Happily Ever After fireworks that day either.

If you are someone who feels they need to spend 12 hours in the park to get your money’s worth, you may want to visit another park this day. EPCOT would be a great choice, as the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts is currently taking place. Just remember that if you are coming from a resort along the Skyliner route, the Disney Skyliner will be down for maintenance that day. You all will have bus transportation instead.

Now that this early closure is on your radar, it’s time to make a decision. If you visit Magic Kingdom this day, you might enjoy lower wait times. Others may avoid the park, seeing the shorter operating hours as a bad return on investment. However, you don’t want to enter Magic Kingdom midday only to have a few hours of fun.
