Some say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Admittedly, when I’m in Disney World, I don’t always stop to eat breakfast. My rationale is that if I’m heading into one of the theme parks, I’ll likely want to have space in my stomach for the many delicious snack items I can find there. This is especially true if we’re talking about an EPCOT park day!
If you do decide to eat breakfast, it can definitely be worth it to spend time at your resort or hop to another location for your meal. Just be aware of potential crowds at peak mealtimes. If you use mobile order or eat at a more off-peak time, however, it can still be a relaxing experience. Now, let’s discuss a few breakfast options I recommend at Walt Disney World resorts.
Mickey Waffles
Most of the quick service locations at Disney Resorts offer the same standard breakfast options. A quintessential breakfast option found almost everywhere around Disney World is Mickey-shaped Waffles. Just as the name implies, these waffles are shaped like Mickey’s face. Everything is literally better when it’s Mickey shaped, and waffles are no exception!

You can order Mickey-shaped Waffles in a couple of different ways. First, as a standalone entrée with a side of bacon and/or sausage. Here’s a pro tip: you can ask for double bacon instead of sausage if you prefer. Another way to get a Mickey-shaped Waffle is by ordering a Waffle Bounty Platter. Bounty Platters typically come with scrambled eggs, potato barrels, bacon, sausage, and a single Mickey-shaped waffle. Bounty Platters sometimes go by other names depending on the restaurant, so be on the lookout!
Totcho Bowl
One of my newest favorite breakfast items is the Loaded Totcho Bowl. This item (with different toppings) initially gained popularity at Woody’s Lunchbox in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Now, you can find totchos at other locations around property, too. Totchos are a hot, hearty breakfast option that’ll definitely fuel you up for a busy day! Most locations offer a bowl that includes potato barrels (also known as tater tots) topped with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, sausage gravy, and bacon.

Keep an eye out for versions with slight variations. As an example, one of my favorite quick services, The Mara at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, offers what they call a Kilimanjaro Bowl. This bowl has the typical potato barrels, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, sausage gravy, and bacon, but also includes chakalaka (a South African vegetable relish).
Tonga Toast
Head over to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for one of the most impressive breakfast options around. Tonga Toast is banana-stuffed sourdough bread that’s been battered, deep-fried, and dusted with cinnamon-sugar. Oh, and by the way, it’s massive! You can find Tonga Toast most notably at Kona Cafe, a casual sit-down restaurant that accepts both advanced reservations and walk-ups. Kona Cafe serves Tonga Toast with a strawberry compote accompaniment and your choice of bacon or sausage. Kona Cafe is definitely a relaxing vibe, and reservations are typically not too difficult to acquire at this location.

Did you know that you can also find Tonga Toast at the Poly’s quick service location, Capt. Cook’s? That’s right, for a fraction of the price, you can still enjoy this delicious one-of-a-kind breakfast served with a side of bacon or sausage. The key difference is Capt. Cook’s does not include the strawberry compote (you’ll have to settle for regular syrup here). Being from a quick service, however, means that it is less expensive here. Saving money for more snacks and souvenirs while still enjoying the same over-the-top breakfast is definitely a win in my book!
Boma – Flavors of Africa Breakfast (for all the things, but most specifically, the sticky buns!)
Perhaps the ultimate breakfast of champions is my favorite, breakfast at Boma – Flavors of Africa. I have lovingly mentioned Boma before, and I will keep singing its praises! Boma is a buffet restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The restaurant offers a wide variety of breakfast options including familiar favorites and African-inspired options. There are soooo many options here that it would be impossible to list them all (and choosing a singular favorite item is difficult). However, one delicacy I will suggest you must try are the sticky buns. Honestly, these alone are worth a visit!

So there you have it. Those are some of my favorite breakfast options at resorts in Disney World. If you’re at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and want a truly epic item that can totally count as breakfast, definitely try the Caramel Apple Pie Funnel Cake from Epic Eats. It’s massive, shareable, and reminds the team of a delicious warm apple fritter in the best possible way.
