Set SAIL On Bay Lake To These Three Magic Kingdom Area Resorts

There are many ways to get from here to there while you’re in Walt Disney World. In fact, MouseHouseNews.net has several articles detailing the types of transportation available to guests. One of the most underrated modes of transportation on Disney property is the water taxi.

You may already be aware of some of the boat transportation options around Disney World. Depending on the area, you might see different vessels criss-crossing different bodies of water. For starters, you’ll see water taxis, ferries, FriendShip Boats, and the Sassagoula River Cruise boats.

Today, we’re going to focus on the Blue Flag. The Blue Flag is a water transportation route that can conveniently transport you to several Magic Kingdom area resorts without requiring a stop at the theme park first. Set sail on a magical journey between Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

The Blue Flag boat is convenient for traveling to dining reservations or for resort hopping among the resorts it serves. However, there is a caveat: using the Blue Flag is not always quick. If you’re trying to get from the Contemporary to Fort Wilderness for a Hoop-De-Doo Musical Revue reservation, keep in mind that you will be making a stop at Wilderness Lodge before getting to your ultimate destination. Similarly, if you’re going from Wilderness Lodge to get to the Contemporary for a quick bite to eat before walking to Magic Kingdom, you will be stopping at Fort Wilderness first.

This water taxi route begins operation at 3:00pm daily. It continuously travels among the three resorts until approximately 10:45pm. It will generally stop at each resort every 15-20 minutes or so. As is the case with other Disney World water transportation, the Blue Flag boat runs weather permitting and times are subject to change. Be sure to look for signage at each of the participating resorts if you want to give the Blue Flag a try.

Personally, I love taking Walt Disney World boat transportation! While not always the quickest form of transportation, it is definitely one of the most relaxing ways to get around. Also, this time of the year, you can use a boat to resort hop so you can see those resort gingerbread displays!
