When you check into a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel, you know you’re in the middle of the magic. There’s just a special feeling that comes over you the moment you walk through the lobby doors of the resort. However, we all have our personal preferences regarding what type of room accommodations we prefer.
At Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, there are basically two room types (not counting suites or Club Level). Those main room types are Village and Tower. In the video below, the MouseHouseNews.net team explores both of these room types and takes you inside each one so you can see which one fits your style more. By the end of the video, you’ll know whether you are team Tower or team Village.
Resort Amenities
The cornerstone of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is the Gran Destino Tower. This tower is the newest addition to the resort, completed in 2019, and is home to the resort’s check-in area. You will also find Bell Services, plenty of seating areas, and Barcelona Lounge on the first two levels. Gran Destino Tower is also home to 545 Tower rooms, the rooftop restaurant Toledo, and Dahlia Lounge (next to Toledo). The tower is the exclusive building on Disney World property utilizing a “destination dispatch” style of elevator, which Erin demonstrates in the video below.
El Centro
In addition to Gran Destino Tower, there is the El Centro area. El Centro is the main hub for shopping and dining. It is here where you will find one of our favorite places to buy souvenirs: Panchitos.

There are also a number of restaurants in El Centro:
- El Mercado de Coronado, which has some of the most unique quick service menu items on property
- Rix Sports Bar & Grill
- Cafe Rix
- Maya Grill

Lago Dorado
The food options don’t stop there! Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a foodie paradise! If you want to dine lakeside, be sure to check out Three Bridges Bar & Grill at Villa del Lago. You can’t miss it… the restaurant sits on a floating pier in the middle of the 22-acre Lago Dorado. Just find one of the three bridges that traverses the lake and go to the middle of the lake!

The Dig Site
Disney’s Coronado Springs has a recreational area located between the Ranchos and Cabanas sections called The Dig Site. The Dig Site keeps with the resort’s theming, as it resembles a Mayan ruins site. Here, you can have fun at a white-sand volleyball court, the Iguana arcade, the feature pool, hot tub, or Siesta’s pool bar. Yes, there is more food to be had at this sprawling complex! You won’t go hungry here.

Pools
Coronado Springs has four pools total. The feature pool, The Lost City of Cibola Pool, is located at The Dig Site. The pool has a 123-foot long waterslide with a spitting jaguar! The pool’s main feature is a 50-foot pyramid that has stone steps with water streaming down to the pool. At The Lost City of Cibola, you can join others and participate in the Swimming of the Bulls! Next to this pool, Disney Adults will find the largest hot tub on Disney World property. It will hold up to 22 people. If these pools are too crowded for your taste, you can also find a pool in each village area: Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas.
Fitness
If you want to get a workout in, there are multiple ways to do it at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. In addition to the pools, there is also a 0.9 mile jogging trail that takes you around the scenic Lago Dorado. Also, you can visit La Vida Health Club or the Fitness Center at Gran Destino, which are both open 24-hours.
Campfire Activities
Like most other Disney Resorts, you can enjoy a nice campfire nightly at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. When the sun goes down, make your way to the campfire area for some marshmallow roasting!

Conventions
Coronado Springs is a convention center hotel. In fact, you may be surprised to know that it has the largest convention center at the Walt Disney World Resort! For this reason, you will likely see businessmen and women walking around the resort. This is also the reason why you will find desk space in the guest rooms. Together, the convention center is comprised of several ballrooms and exhibit halls, along with nearly 50 breakout rooms.
The Rooms
When you are thinking about staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs resort, the question is going to come up… should you choose a Village room or a Tower room? The MouseHouseNews.net team put these rooms head to head in a comparison to show you what each room looks like. Be sure to watch the video embedded at the top of this page to see each room to see how they differ.
No matter if you get a Village room or a Tower room, you can choose from rooms with a King bed or two Queen beds. Beyond that, options include Standard/Resort view or Water view. Village rooms also have a Preferred room option, which puts you close to El Centro. There are some suites and club level rooms available, but we did not review those rooms or perks.

All rooms have a Keurig coffee machine with coffee and tea K-cups, creamers, sweeteners, and cups with lids. There is a desk in every room, perfect for getting a little work done if you are a Disney Adult traveling, but still need to do a little work. All rooms are equipped with a Hey Disney interactive voice assistant, a smart TV, beverage cooler, ice bucket, and reading lights built into the bed headboards. There is a chair and plenty of plug outlets and USB ports to charge devices as well. Each room has a dresser as well as an area to hang clothes (hangers included), an in-room safe, and an iron with ironing board.
The bathrooms offer sliding barn doors to separate this area from the sleeping areas. You will find dual-sinks on the vanity, and amenities such as bar soap, lotion, mouthwash, tissue, a vanity kit, and shower cap. A hair dryer and magnified makeup mirror are also available. In the water closet, you will find the toilet and shower with wall-mounted shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
Housekeeping is offered every other day during your stay.
Village Rooms
Village rooms do have a fun theming to them! If you like The Three Caballeros, these are your rooms, and you will love the artwork found in the rooms. When you choose a village room, you are choosing a room in one of three sections of the resort: Casitas, Ranchos, or Cabanas. These rooms are obviously not in the tower, which means you will have to likely go outside to get to the main hub of activity at Coronado Springs. However, if you choose a Preferred room, you will receive a room located in the Casitas section closer to El Centro. Village rooms have exterior doors and windows that are on shared walkways, so there is the potential for extra noise and people to see inside your room as they walk past. One unexpected bonus of the village rooms is the addition of a ceiling fan. As Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a moderate resort, there is a little bit of extra space in these rooms compared to a Disney value resort room, but not a lot.

Tower Rooms
Tower rooms at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort may actually make you think you’re staying at a deluxe resort! These rooms are very spacious and luxurious feeling. My words would not do them justice, so please watch the video at the top of the page to see the difference for yourself. While losing the Three Caballeros theming, these rooms inherit a more adult theming of the Disney/Salvador Dalí collaboration that influenced the design of the Gran Destino Tower at large. The doors for these rooms are interior doors that open into a hallway, which is something normally only seen at deluxe resorts. When you walk into the room, you walk into a foyer. Again, this illustrates the spaciousness of these rooms. Your window does not look onto a walkway, so there is more privacy here. The space to spread out, the convenient location, and the views from the Tower rooms is definitely what you are paying for when choosing between Village and Tower rooms! The noticeable omission from these rooms compared to a village room is a ceiling fan.

Transportation
We do need to talk about transportation options at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. If you intend to use only free Disney transportation options, there is exactly one option for you: the bus. There is no Disney Skyliner or monorail station here or within walking distance of this resort. This will be a turn off for some people, so it is information that you need to know. Also, due to the size of the resort, the buses run on an internal bus loop. There are four bus stops within the resort. What this means is that if you are trying to get to a theme park, it is possible that you have to make stops at 3 other bus stops before even leaving the resort. That is on top of the wait you’ve made before the bus arrived to you. Keep this in mind if you are trying to make a dining or Lightning Lane reservation and be sure you allow plenty of transportation time.

Having said all of this, Coronado Springs Resort is one of our team’s favorite resorts at Walt Disney World. It definitely gives Disney Adult vibes because it has Disney magic, but with a kick of sophistication. The romantic vibes make it a great place for a honeymoon or weekend getaway. Disney Adults who are forced to work but need some time to have fun will appreciate the amenities that allow both to occur. If you’re at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, whether resort hopping or staying as a guest, be sure to check out some of the recreation activities. Creating Spanish Mosaic Art is a great way to spend an afternoon at the resort while creating a custom souvenir. Stay tuned for more Disney Vacation News and Reviews for Disney Adults!
