Are you planning a December getaway to Walt Disney World? Lucky you! Get ready for festive decorations, delicious holiday treats, and merry entertainment galore. If you want even more magic during your upcoming Disney trip, you may want to consider booking an Enchanting Extra for your vacation.
The Enchanting Extras collection consists of additional paid experiences that guests can book to “level up” their vacations. These experiences vary widely in style and price. Disney offers everything from private photo shoots in the parks and Fireworks Dessert Parties to exclusive behind the scenes tours. Today, I want to tell you about a unique experience at The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. It may just become your new favorite holiday tradition!
Did you know you can take a Holiday Sleigh Ride throughout Fort Wilderness Campground? Imagine traveling along scenic woodland trails aboard a horse-drawn sleigh. Come on, it’s lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with yoooooouuuuuuuu! What could be more festive?

Holiday Sleigh Rides are available from December 1st – December 30th. Please note that Sleigh Rides are unavailable on December 24th. Reservations are strongly recommended due to limited availability. The booking window for this magical activity is already open, so check your dates on the Disney World website or My Disney Experience App!
Other things to know about this experience:
- Each excursion is 25 minutes long
- Sleighs can accommodate up to 4 adults, or 2 adults and 3 small children
- The cost of a Sleigh Ride is $80 + tax
- There is a 24-hour cancellation policy for this experience
- You will be required to park at the main entrance of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and take a bus to the Settlement Bus Depot
- Check-in for Sleigh Rides is at the new Tri-Circle-D Ranch Barn located near the bus depot
- Sleigh Rides may be cancelled due to inclement weather, but Disney states that they will occur in rain and cold

Even if you won’t be at Disney World in December, you can still enjoy a peaceful carriage ride. Regular carriage rides are available year round at Fort Wilderness Resort and Port Orleans Resort – Riverside. If you go to Riverside, please tell Thor the horse I said “hello”! He did a fantastic job pulling the carriage when I did this experience.

December is a great time to visit Walt Disney World.
