A BUSY Holiday Week Has Arrived at Walt Disney World

For many years, summer at Disney World has meant big crowds in sweltering heat. Perhaps the biggest week of the summer is the week containing Independence Day, as there are so many special events occurring all across the Walt Disney World Resort. As we have entered this specific week, let’s take a look at some of the special events you can expect if you are visiting The Most Magical Place On Earth this week.

Special Fireworks Shows

If you are visiting Magic Kingdom on Thursday and/or Friday, we’ve got bad news. You won’t be able to see the Happily Ever After fireworks show. We’ve also got some better news. Instead of Happily Ever After, you’ll see a special fireworks show those days. The annual Fourth of July fireworks show, “Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky”, returns on July 3rd. This show will occur for two nights this week, Thursday and Friday at 9:20 PM. As a side note, it is expected that the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be open to registered guests of that resort only. This means that, unless you are staying at this resort on Thursday or Friday night, you will be unable to view the special fireworks shows from this location.

Over at EPCOT, Luminous – The Symphony of Us will go on as scheduled at 9:00 PM. However, on Friday, there will be a special holiday finale. “Heartbeat of Freedom” will be added to the fireworks show as a tribute to America’s history. Additionally, Spaceship Earth will be lit in red, white, and blue all night on July 4th.

Holiday Snacks

Starting today through Saturday, you’ll be able to taste delicious holiday eats around the resort. This weeklong culinary offering includes the following treats:

  • Berry Shortcake (Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom): Shortcake topped with mixed berries, whipped cream, and patriotic sprinkles.
  • Red, White, and Blue Funnel Cake (Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom): Funnel cake topped with mixed berries, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and festive sprinkles.
  • Red, White, and Blue Slushy (Liberty Square Market in Magic Kingdom): Frozen Fanta Blue Raspberry and Fanta Cherry layered with whipped cream and topped with popping candies.
  • Red, White, and Blue Waffle (Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom): Waffle topped with mixed berries, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and festive sprinkles.
  • Caramel-Apple Pie Funnel Cake (Epic Eats in Disney’s Hollywood Studios): Funnel cake with apple pie topping, caramel drizzle, and vanilla soft-serve.
  • Patriotic Cake Bar (Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs): Vanilla chiffon combined with passion fruit, orange, and guava juice.

Holiday PhotoPass Magic Shots

From July 3rd – July 6th, you can have some Independence Day magic added to your Disney PhotoPass photos at select locations around Walt Disney World. PhotoPass photographers around all four theme parks, as well as the Disney PhotoPass Studio at Disney Springs, will capture your visit with a little bit of holiday sparkle added to your photos, so be sure to stop and have a photo or two taken!

Remember to pack your patience along with your ponchos if you will be visiting Walt Disney World this week for the Independence Day holiday! This will be one of the busiest weeks of the summer at Disney World, and every day has a chance for showers and thunderstorms with high temperatures in the upper 80s.
