Your experiences at Walt Disney World can vary due to a lot of factors. The size of the crowds, the outside temperatures, the festivals going on, and even the availability of seasonal food can make your trip different from someone else’s, or even different from the last trip you took to the magic. One big factor that affects pretty much all of the above mentioned factors is the time of year you visit. February is definitely a different vibe at Walt Disney World than, say, July. One specific event that is returning in February 2025 is sure to add some soul to your trip if you plan to visit this month.
February is, of course, Black History Month. Throughout the month, you should make time to find events throughout Walt Disney World that honor and celebrate Black heritage and culture. Disney is helping you do so by bringing back their Celebrate Soulfully event, which honors the culture through music, art, food, and live entertainment!
The events started on February 1st when the Emmy-winning journalist and talk show host Tamron Hall and her family were the Grand Marshals of an exclusive afternoon parade at Magic Kingdom. While that event has passed, there are many other ways you can participate and Celebrate Soulfully all month long. Of course you will want to take a ride on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom, as the ride celebrates Princess Tiana (Disney’s first black princess) and invites you to ride through a lively Mardi Gras party at her popular New Orleans restaurant… assuming you can find and bring some key ingredients with you: the musicians! After you attend the party, go meet Princess Tiana in person over at Princess Fairytale Hall.

If you have plans to visit EPCOT, where the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts is underway from now until February 24th, you’ll find a number of black artists including Yesenia Moises, Ryan Riller, Larissa Brown, and Mark Page making in-person appearances throughout the month. Also, you’ll want to grab a seat for the Disney on Broadway concert series, where a number of black musicians including Jelani Remy (The Lion King), Alton Fitzgerald White (The Lion King), Kissy Simmons (The Lion King), and Michael James Scott (Aladdin) are scheduled to perform Disney hits at the America Gardens Theatre. Don’t forget to say hello to Asha from Disney’s Wish! She’s visiting from Rosas and you can find her near World Showcase Plaza at select times throughout the day.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, take some time to jam out with the Tam Tam Drummers of Harambe in the Africa section. You’ll also not want to miss Viva Gaia, as these dancing musicians lead a Caribbean-style street party on Discovery Island.

Other events you won’t want to miss include meeting Ariel from the live-action story “The Little Mermaid” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and you can meet black artists at the Disney Springs Art Walk: A Canvas of Expression over at Disney Springs.
