When you book your Walt Disney World trip, there are different ways you can book. The first way is with a Disney vacation package, which is a bundle that contains both a hotel room and park tickets. This is the reservation that allows you to book directly with Disney by putting a $200 deposit onto your reservation to secure the booking, so long as you pay it off by 30 days prior to the beginning of your trip. The second way is to book a room-only reservation at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel. You will pay a deposit equal to the first night’s stay at the time of booking, then pay the remaining amount due on your check-in date. If you have made or plan to make a room-only reservation at a Walt Disney World Resort, you will want to be aware of a new change that is going into effect in 2025.
Previously, the cancelation policy for room-only reservations was five days prior to your check-in date. In 2025, that cancelation window shifts to eight days prior to your check-in date. As such, if you do not cancel your reservation prior to eight days before your check-in date, you will lose your deposit. You have been warned!
